Drawing on a range of musical influences, ranging from balkan to blues, celtic to classical, the expansion of Simon’s musical pallate ensures that ‘The Last Car’ is his most diverse and accomplished album to date and confirms him as one of the most gifted songwriters and acoustic guitarists currently working in Scotland.

The album reminds you, here and there, of one of the man’s influences, Bert Jansch, but in terms of lyrical depth and ambition, it could only be Kempston — Russell Leadbetter, The Herald Scotland
